Summer Session Frequently Asked Questions

When do classes begin?

We offer two five and six-week sessions, and one eight-week session which begins May 26th, June 24th and July 7th.  The five-week sessions are scheduled Monday –Friday from 8:30 a.m. - noon, courses offered in the five-week format are designed for physics and chemistry.

How often do classes meet?

The majority of the classes meet twice a week each session, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00-noon, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., and 6:00 - 10:45 p.m.

When is registration?

Registration for summer session begins on Monday, April 6 and continues through until the start up of each session. Registrations are processed on a space available basis. Early registration is recommended.

Do I need to be in a degree program in order to take courses at Merrimack College?

No. Under the General Studies option, a student may take up to 8 courses for credit before applying for Admission.

What are your hours?

The Office of Continuing Education at Merrimack College is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. During the summer months, the campus closes at 1:00 p.m. on Fridays.

What is your refund policy?

A student is entitled to a refund if a written notice of withdrawal is received by the continuing education or registrar’s office by the following times:

Prior to the first class meeting full refund

Prior to the second-class meeting 75% refund

Prior to the third class meeting 50% refund

Prior to the fourth class meeting 25% refund

Prior to the fifth class meeting 0% refund

Withdrawals with no refund may be initiated after these times, prior to the final exam.

How much is summer tuition?

Since most courses are four credits each, tuition for one course is usually $1100. Tuition for summer courses is $260.00 per credit hour. Online and Hybrid courses are $275.00 per credit hour.

Are there any other fees?

In addition to the cost of textbooks for individual courses, some courses have laboratory fees as well.
