Donald J. Weinbach '80

Donald J. Weinbach is the Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. In this position Don is a member of the President’s Cabinet and is responsible for all philanthropic activities throughout the University, including the School of Law. In addition, Don has responsibility for Alumni Affairs and Parent Relations, consisting of a wide range of programs and services for more than 35,000 alumni and parents. Don also directs local, state and federal government relations for the University. He is responsible for town/gown relations in the towns of Hamden and North Haven.

Don has extensive government, education and business experience. He served as a congressional aide to Congressman Lawrence DeNardis from 1981-1983, as a lobbyist at the Associated Industries of Massachusetts, and in sales and marketing positions for several Fortune 500 companies before joining Merrimack College as Executive Director of Development and Alumni Affairs in 1990.

Don is a member of the Regional Leadership Council and the Oak Lane Country Club Board of Governors. He is a past member of the Hamden Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and past chairman of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District I that includes the New England states and Eastern Canada. In 2007, Don was honored as Hamden’s Notable Citizen of the Year by the Hamden Chamber of Commerce.

Don holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Merrimack College where he captained the baseball team. He was named to the All-New England Collegiate Baseball Team in 1980 and inducted into the Merrimack College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.

Don and his wife, Maryann, reside in Hamden. Don has three children, Elissa, Matt and Caroline.
