Assistant/Associate Professor, Chemistry and Biochemistry

Position Overview:  The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Merrimack College invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track position in analytical chemistry at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Our American Chemical Society-approved department currently offers majors in Chemistry (B.S.) and Biochemistry (B.S. and B.A.) and provides courses for other majors within the School of Science and Engineering. The successful faculty hire will contribute to the development of new programs (forensic science, environmental science, and a joint major with Health Science) and support the growth of our departmental service courses, especially those for the health sciences. Teaching responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, courses in the general chemistry sequence and courses in analytical chemistry. Our department has modern instrumentation including NMR, IR, UV-vis, and fluorescence spectrometers, as well as a newly acquired ESI-ion trap mass spectrometer.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the tenure-track faculty member will include teaching introductory and upper level courses in chemistry and biochemistry, building an active research program involving undergraduate research students, and performing service to the college community.

Qualifications:  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry and postdoctoral or equivalent experience. Investigators with with a specialization in bioanalytical, forensic, or medicinal chemistry are especially encouraged to apply. Expertise in mass spectrometry is highly desirable. Permanent US work authorization and/or US Citizenship is required.
