Chair of Computer Science
Position Overview: The Department of Computer Science at Merrimack College invites applications for the position of Chair at senior rank. The successful candidate will start in fall, 2017 and must demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching, research and academic leadership to merit tenure on appointment. The department is experiencing growth in enrollments with interdisciplinary majors on the horizon. The chair will be a leader fostering new academic initiatives, faculty development, industry collaborations and strategic planning.
Merrimack College is a selective, independent college in the Catholic, Augustinian tradition and is located 25 miles north of Boston. The College offers undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts, business, science and engineering, and education; it also offers graduate programs. It is distinctive in that it has a School of Science and Engineering and as a member of the Computer Science Department, you will have opportunities for research and teaching collaborations with our engineering, health sciences, mathematics and the science departments. Additionally, interdisciplinary collaborations and other initiatives with the Schools of Business, Liberal Arts and Education exist. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or closely related field. Research interests from all areas of specialization are encouraged to apply. We especially welcome candidates with a background in mobile computing, cloud computing, big data, data science, parallel and distributed computing, and cybersecurity. The candidate must exhibit a strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate computer science courses.
