Girard School of Business Investment Society
The mission of the Girard School of Business Investment Society (GSBIS) at Merrimack aims to further the knowledge of individuals interested in investment methods and theories beyond the classroom. Through the use of various outside sources and stock simulation programs, members of the GSBIS will be introduced to advanced investment ideas, tactics, and topics that are consistent in a business environment. The GSBIS seeks to create a collaborative environment in which students will learn through discussions, simulations, presentations, and peer-to-peer learning, while creating a network of students with similar interests. Members will also be engaged in the current news and trends of today’s society and market. Currently, we have more than 50 members who actively participate in GSBIS.
Membership Requirements:
Membership is open to all students currently enrolled in Merrimack’s Girard School of Business program who have an interest in furthering their knowledge of finance. Previous knowledge of investments is not required, but is beneficial to a student’s comprehension of the topics being discussed. To become a member in the GSBIS, an individual must turn in the required membership information, pay dues, and remain an “active” member by attending meetings. The GSBIS does not discriminate based on gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion, disability, or sexual orientation, and abides by the rules and regulations set forth by Merrimack College.
