Recent Research and Professional Experience
Cathie Rich-Duval is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Chairperson of Marketing at Merrimack College. The 2007-2008 academic year marks her twentieth year at Merrimack, with more than ten years as Chair of Marketing and the former Chair of International Business Programs. She has served as the faculty advisor to the American Marketing Association/Merrimack College Collegiate Chapter for over 19 years.
Prof. Rich-Duval came to Merrimack from industry with her expertise in global marketing. For over a decade, Prof. Rich-Duval developed and implemented a unique international marketing program at Merrimack where the experience takes the student beyond the classroom and into the corporation in a foreign environment. Students traveled to 13 western and eastern European countries and held meetings with large and small businesses, some of which are included below: Philips Electronics, Delftsepauw, Gassan Diamond Center, Porsche, Sabena Airlines, Orval Brewery, Metaxa, Kraft, Knorr-Bremmes, Siemens, etc. She hopes to continue this program in the near future.
Cathie is an author and frequent speaker/discussant on global trade issues and international business education at many global business and academic conferences. She co-authored a Case Study and Teaching Guide and presented it to the North American Case Research Association in October 2006.
Her practical business experience includes current real estate marketing and management consulting; and an appointment by the Mayor of Beverly to the Beverly Trash and Recycling Committee (conducting research and survey design for study, analysis and implementation). Previous work experience has included the founding and operation of Logan Trading Co., Inc., an international marketing consulting and import/export firm which was also certified by the State of Massachusetts as a WBE (Women Business Enterprise) and a SBE (Small Business Enterprise); a three year tenure at the Massachusetts Port Authority where she worked in Foreign Trade organizing and implementing trade missions for Small Business Enterprises; and Creative Department Manager at Kenyon & Eckhardt International Advertising Agency.
