My name is Michael Wiseman, class of 2014, at Merrimack College. I am from Arlington MA, majoring in Business Management. I have been able to get involved on campus and was able to study abroad first semester junior year. I am a legacy at Merrimack with my father and older sister graduating from Merrimack and my younger sister attending in the fall.
The Girard School of Business has given me a great opportunity to expand my knowledge and understanding in the business field. Being a Management concentration has made it possible to learn different leadership styles and how to run and manage a business. Taking the core courses gives us the opportunity to touch upon and learn from the different facets in business. As a Management concentration it is vital that we learn how to work with and lead others, the importance placed upon group and project work has helped simulate real world business and how to be successful.
Merrimack has also given me the chance to study abroad in one of the most historically rich countries in the world. In the fall of 2012 I studied at the American University of Rome taking business classes. Being able to study abroad gave me a wider grasp on business in both America and other countries. Being encouraged and able to travel, learn and view international businesses first hand has only added to the vast business knowledge Merrimack has provided.
Merrimack also provided many opportunities to get immersed in its tight community; I was able to get involved as an Orientation leader and with the Merrimack Out Reach Experience (MORE - a religious based retreat experience). Along with taking advantage of the Leadership Institute, all have helped to broaden my knowledge and have given me a better college experience.
Merrimack and the Girard School of Business have taught me so much thus far and have made it possible to take advantage of so many great opportunities. I feel confident that Merrimack College has provided a strong foundation from which my business career with thrive.
