Application Information
Applications for the Master’s in Education (M.Ed.) program are accepted online, and are reviewed by the Graduate Education Admissions Committee once complete. Click on “Apply Now” to get started.
You will be required to create an account by registering a username and password. Registering an account will allow you to start an application, save, and then log back in at any time to complete it before submission.
- Your essay(s), resume, and any additional documents may be uploaded electronically through the application portal.
- You can also enter electronic contact information for your recommenders and they will be sent an email with a link prompting them to complete your recommendation online. You can also choose to mail in hard copies of your letters of recommendation.
- Enrollment history is collected in the online application. However, an official copy of your transcript(s) must be mailed to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Traditional enrollment: rolling admission
Applications are reviewed once complete and students are notified of acceptance as soon as the Graduate Education Admissions Committee has made a decision. -
Fellowship: March 1, 2013
Applications will be reviewed and acceptances emailed after the application deadline. Note- Priority deadline of February 15 for Higher Ed and Community Engagement.
Applications for both programs (traditional and Fellowship) are accepted through the same online portal.

Official transcripts
Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended are required. Transcripts must show course titles, dates, and grades. Additionally, transcripts for programs for which a degree was earned must show a degree conferral. Degree conferrals must include the name of the degree conferred, the month and year the degree was conferred, and the name of the institution conferring the degree. Official transcripts must be submitted in envelopes sealed by the institution’s registrar. Transcripts must be original documents bearing the institutional seal and signature of the institution’s registrar. Transcripts may be mailed directly to the Office of Graduate Admission or to the applicant to be included with other mailed materials. -
Resume
Applicants are encouraged to submit a resume or curriculum vitae (CV). Your resume or CV should contain a summary of relevant job experience and education. You may also include relevant activities, awards, and interests. (Can be submitted through the online application, or mailed in.) -
Personal statement
All applicants are required to submit a personal statement (500 word maximum). The statement should explain your interest in education and your future goals. (This can be submitted through the online application, or mailed in separately. -
Letters of reference
Two (2) letters of reference are required. Letters of reference should come from individuals with whom you have studied and/or under whose immediate supervision you have worked in a professional capacity, or others who you believe are in a position to offer pertinent appraisal of your skills and ability. -
Official scores from the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL)
It is strongly recommended that applicants have passed at least the Communications and Literacy Skills (01) test. (Not applicable for students applying to the General Studies, Higher Education or Community Engagement programs.) -
A copy of current teaching license(s), if applicable
A current leaching license is not required for admission into a licensure graduate program. However, if you do hold a current teaching license, we encourage you to include a copy with your application materials. (Not applicable for students applying to the General Studies, Higher Education or Community Engagement programs.) -
TOEFL scores (international applicants only)
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is designed to measure an applicant’s ability to communicate in English in a college or university setting. The test is currently offered in two forms (Internet-based and paper-based) and Merrimack College School of Education accepts both formats. An official score report should be submitted with your application materials.
