MTEL Preparation Workshops

Merrimack College’s School of Education now offers preparation workshops for the following Massachusetts Tests for Educator’s Licensure (MTELs): 

  • General Curriculum (03) (Math Subtest Only)
  • Foundations of Reading (90)

Upcoming MTEL Deadlines

Registration deadlines for the May 12th test:

  • Regular Registration - March 30, 2012                    
  • Late Registration (additional fees apply) - April 20, 2012             
  • Emergency Registration (additional fees apply) - May 4, 2012

Registration deadlines for the July 14th test:

  • Regular Registration - June 1, 2012                    
  • Late Registration (additional fees apply) - June 22, 2012             
  • Emergency Registration (additional fees apply) - July 6, 2012

Requirements for Merrimack Students

Education students must take and pass a set of tests - the MTELs - required of all the classroom teachers by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  See the matrix below for the tests required, depending on your particular licensure area.

For undergraduates:  It is strongly encouraged that the Communication and Literacy test is taken and passed by the end of the sophmore year and the Foundations of Reading (if applicable) taken concurrently with enrollment in EDU 3310. Additionally, all students should have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA prior to entry into the student-teaching semester.

For all students (undergraduate and graduate): All MTEL tests (including the General Curriculum & subject matter tests) must be passed prior to entry into the student-teaching semester.
