PBS Teacherline Courses

Summer session begins on June 25, 2009 and runs for six weeks.

Teachers who take courses for Merrimack College graduate credit must first register with and pay PBS (www.pbs.org/teacherline). After completing registration and payment to PBS, teachers may then register with Merrimack College for non-degree graduate credit. (See Registration Form link on web page). The cost is $120 per credit. Most courses carry two or three credits.

Teachers may also take PBS courses for PDPs only. One registration and payment is due directly to PBS.  If, in the first week of a course, a teacher decides to take a course for credit, registration and payment to Merrimack College may be sent. Registration for graduate credits will not be accepted after the first week of classes in each session.

Receiving Non Degree Credits from Merrimack College
After the completion of a course, learners receive a grade certificate from PBS.  A copy of that certificate must be mailed/faxed to The Graduate Institute for Teachers at Merrimack College. This certificate will be submitted to the college Registrar and must also be confirmed by email from PBS.

Mail to:
Graduate Institute for Teachers
Merrimack College
O'Reilly Hall, Rm 208A
315 Turnpike St.
No. Andover, MA  01845
Fax #:  978-837-5408

After submission of a PBS grade certificate and confirmation of a grade from PBS, learners must then request an official transcript from the registrar. Grade reports are not sent out unless requested on the college form. The transcript is the official record of the grade obtained and the credits awarded for successful completion of a PBS Teacherline course through the Graduate Institute for Teachers at Merrimack.  Please allow three weeks for receipt of a transcript from Merrimack College after we have confirmation of a grade from PBS Teacherline.

These online courses are subsidized by a U.S. Department of Education Grant,
$199/30 hrs and $249/45hrs per learner with a few exceptions. Graduate credits are available from Merrimack College for an additional cost of $120 per credit.
