Professional education now offers the PMP® Certificate Program on-site for employers from all industries. ON-CAMPUS
Professional education also offers the PMP® Certificate Program on-campus. This program prepares you for either the PMP® or the CAPM® certification.
This program run for 10 weeks from 6PM to 9:30PM thereby providing the 35 hours of training required for the PMP® exam and the 23 hours required for the CAPM® exam.

PMP 3510 Project Management Professional PMP® and CAPM® Certification Course Objectives
In this course you will apply the project management best practices recognized by PMI® to successfully manage projects. In ten sessions, you will cover:
Session 1 – INITIATING a PROJECT
In this session you will be introduced to the nature of projects, review the Project Life Cycle, and discuss the Process Groups (IPECC – Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing). The criteria for selecting a Project will be investigated, and you will learn about creating a Project Charter and preliminary scope statement, who are considered stakeholders, and what selection criteria you use to select a project manager.
Session 2 – PLANNING YOUR WORK
In this session you will learn how to develop an Initial Project Plan, Create a Scope Statement, and develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Session 3 – DEVELOPING PROJECT SCHEDULES, COST ESTIMATES, and BUDGETS
In this session you will create Activity Lists and Project Network Diagrams. You will develop duration estimates, identify the critical path, and develop a Project Schedule. You will estimate costs, establish cost baselines and determine resource requirements.
Session 4 – PLANNING PROJECT QUALITY, STAFFING and COMMUNICATIONS
In this session you will develop a Quality Management Plan and be introduced to the various quality tools, such as checklists, flowcharts, etc. You will explore organizational structures, look at staffing acquisition methods, and create a Communications Management Plan.
Session 5 – ANALYZING RISKS and PLANNING RISK RESPONSES
In this session you will construct a Risk Management Plan, learn how to identify Project Risks and Triggers, Perform Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Analysis and Develop a Risk Response Plan.
Session 6 – PLANNING PROJECT PROCUREMENT
In this session you will prepare a Statement of Work (SOW) and investigate Make-or-Buy Analysis, Contracts, and Contract Planning.
Session 7 – WORKING THE PLAN
In this session you will look at the Execution of the Project Plan, and work on developing the Project Team.
Session 8 – CONTROLLING THE PROJECT
In this session you will investigate the many ways of controlling the project such as, Managing Changes to Performance Baselines, Project Scope Changes, Cost Baseline Changes, and Monitoring and Controlling Project Risk. Also you will continue to look at the procurement process and the topics of Solicitation, Contract Negotiation and Contract Administration.
Session 9 – CLOSING THE PROJECT
In this session you will compare Administrative and Contract Closure and understand the difference. You also will look at Procurement Audits as a formal evaluation of the supplier’s performance and the procurement process itself.
Session 10 – Professional Responsibility and PREPARING for the PMI EXAM
In this session you will review the actual process of doing your exam application, scheduling your exam, and the actual process of taking your exam. Also you will discuss ethics and the professional responsibility of a project manager.
This class offers a standards-based approach to successful project management across application areas and industries.

Instructor Profile
Linda F. Desmond, PMP
Ms. Desmond is a Project Management Professional with over 20 years experience. She has championed, developed and taught classes in Total Quality Management, Quality Information Process, Inspections and Facilitation Skills. She is experienced in all phases of software development from product design, schedule development, contract team management, deployment, and maintenance phases of both concurrent and multi-location project initiatives. Ms. Desmond has conducted Communication and Team Building workshops at Lucent’s Women in Leadership International and Project Management Conventions. In addition she led a workshop at Project World 2000 in Boston on Communication and Facilitation skills and has been a speaker at the New England Supply Chain Convention on Best Current Project Management Practices.
She is the 1999 recipient of Greater Lawrence YMCA's Tribute to Women in Business and Industry (TWIN) award for her work in communication skills, diversity, and motivational initiatives for both her company and her community. She created and led a weekly study group for over 5 years on Gender and Cross Cultural communication styles.
Ms. Desmond holds a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education from the University of Rhode Island. Currently she is an independent consultant and trainer. She presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Mass Bay Chapter (Boston) of PMI™ as Past-President and Strategic Director.
