ORC 2505 Oracle 11g SQL Programming with an introduction to PL/SQL
This lecture/lab course gives students hands-on experience in developing and programming database objects and structures. The course focuses on ANSII/ISO standard SQL with Oracle specific extensions. The students will learn how to create tables and other relational objects. They will learn how to add, edit, manipulate and report data. Instruction lectures, demonstrations and labs will use the Oracle SQL*Plus interface to access and control the database.
The course will provide a good foundation for students who wish to prepare for the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification examination.
In addition to SQL, the course will provide an introduction to PL/SQL, Oracle's procedural language.
Block structures, procedures, functions, packages and triggers will be covered.
Oracle 2507 Oracle 11g PL/SQL
PL/SQL is Oracle’s procedure language that extends the functionality of ANSII standard SQL.
It is a well structured strongly typed language that supports relational database concepts and includes many features of object databases. SQL is embedded and tightly linked to optimize performance. The course covers block structures, functions, procedures and packages. DML, view and event triggers are covered with many examples. User defined record, array and nested table types are included. Nested procedures and pipelined functions are covered. Some of the Oracle supplied PL/SQL packages like DBSM_OUTPUT, UTL_FILE, DBMS_RANDOM and DBMS_UTILITY are covered.
ORC 2510 Oracle System Administration I
This course will cover Oracle 11g features. This course is the first step toward success as an Oracle professional, designed to give students a firm foundation in basic Oracle database administrative tasks. This class presents an in-depth coverage on Oracle internal structures, the database administrative tools, user management, and management of database logical and physical layouts. Students are also introduced to networking concepts and configuration parameters, as well as how to solve some common network problems. Includes a review of SQL and some advanced SQL concepts including SQL tuning.
Oracle 2520 Oracle 11g Advanced System Administration II
This course will cover Oracle 11g features. Students will develop abilities to manage the industry’s most advanced information system. This course teaches the Oracle database administrator (DBA) to perform backup and recovery operations, to tune performance and to control resource utilization. This course addresses manual backup and recovery techniques as well as the use of Oracle Recovery Manager RMAN. It examines various backup, failure, restore and recovery scenarios. The students gain the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively tune SQL against the Oracle 11g Server. Students gain a conceptual understanding of the Oracle 11g/10g Ruled-Based and Cost-Based Optimizers, and reinforce instructor-led learning with structured hands-on practices. The students learn to use the Oracle diagnostic tools and facilities; EXPLAIN, SQL Trace, TKPROF and SQL*Plus AUTROTRACE. In addition, the participants learn to influence the behavior of the Optimizer by changing the physical schema and modifying SQL statement syntax. The use of flashback database tools is covered. Automatic Storage Management is introduced. Globalization techniques are covered.
