Kathleen Shine Cain (professor, Ph.D. Marquette University) teaches writing in classes that feature active on-line and face-to-face student discussion. Currently director of the Writing Center, Dr. Cain has also served as director of the Women’s Studies Program, president of the Faculty Senate, and chair of the English Department. In addition to presenting workshops and papers at regional, national, and international conferences, she has published several books, including Leon Uris: A Critical Companion, The Mercury Reader (co-authored), and The Pearson Custom Introduction to Literature (co-authored). In 2005 Dr. Cain and Dr. Michael Rossi were selected by the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing as joint recipients of the Ron Maxwell Award for distinguished leadership. Dr. Cain spent the 2005-2006 academic year as a visiting professor at St. Mary's University College in Belfast, Northern Ireland. At present she is working on a collection of narratives from Belfast.
