English Major Learning Goals

Upon completion of the English major, students should be able to:

1.  Demonstrate an understanding of how meaning is constructed in different kinds of texts, through oral or written analysis of textual features or through creating the texts themselves. 

2.  Identify and articulate in papers, presentations, exams, and other projects the connection between individual literary works and their historical and cultural contexts.

3.  Demonstrate skills in library and internet research, bibliography, and multimedia formats.
