  • All Day: Dan Bisbee
    The International Studies Program welcomed Dan Bisbee, whose make a presentation entitled “Metropolitan Battlefields: Urban combat and city politics in Iraq and Syria.” Mr. Bisbee’s presentation examined recent episodes of warfare and postconflict reconstruction in urban areas of Iraq and Syria.  Currently, Mr. Bisbee is a doctoral candidate in Security and Intelligence Studies at the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School for Public and International Affairs.  His work builds upon his service on the Baghdad Provincial Reconstruction Team as both a US Army officer and a State Department political officer from 2005-2008.

    Our featured speaker will be Dr. He Li, Professor of Political Science, and a member of the International Studies Steering Committee.  Dr. Li will be discussing his recent work Transformations in Post-Mao China, which is forthcoming from Palgrave MacMillan.

  • 2:00pm - 3:15pm: Dr. Alison Russell
    Our featured speaker will be Dr. Alison Russell, an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science, and a member of the International Studies Steering Committee. In addition to discussing her recent book, Cyber Blockades (Georgetown Univ. Press, 2014), Dr. Russell will also describe her career path from political science undergraduate to member of a Washington think-tank (The Center for Naval Analyses) to college professor. The speaker series is open to all Merrimack students, faculty and staff.
