Sociology

Study Abroad

Students who are considering participation in a Study Abroad Program are advised to visit Merrimack College’s Study Abroad web page where policies governing the program are identified.
The Department of Sociology strongly encourages our majors and minors to spend a semester abroad if possible. We will generally accept related courses from accredited institutions. When there is a Sociology Department at the institution where the Study Abroad program is being sponsored, we encourage students to select courses in sociology to transfer to Merrimack. In the event that the host institution does not have a Sociology Department, only those courses that are related to sociology will transfer to Merrimack as major requirements or electives. The chair of Merrimack’s Sociology Department will determine how, if at all, courses from institutions abroad will transfer to Merrimack and count toward a student’s major or minor.
