Current Umbra Student Reflections

Hello to all! My name is Mark Koussa and for many years I have wanted to go abroad and I am proud to say that I am finally living la dolce vita in Perugia, Italy.

While the decision is not easy to set out on a journey like this, the staff at the Umbra Institute did a phenomenal job welcoming us to this beautiful country. Upon arrival in Rome, members of Umbra student services greeted us at the airport and brought us to Perugia. After a delicious welcome dinner, we were shown our “university” housing – fully furnished Italian apartments! The duration of the first week, was spent in intensive Italian language and culture class; learning everything from basic conversation to how to order at the local deli and then physically going to all types of shops and stores to practice! If you choose to come to Umbra you certainly will feel incredibly adjusted to your new home by the end.

Have no fear of coming abroad-may it be culture shock or leaving home, the Umbra Institute will be there to help you along and set you up for the best semester of your life!
