Chemistry Department
Welcome to the Chemistry Department at Merrimack College!
Where can a Merrimack College degree in chemistry or biochemistry take me?
A Merrimack chemistry or biochemistry degree provides a strong foundation for success in a range of careers and in graduate school. Many of our majors go on to graduate or professional school in chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, dentistry, and other fields. Others enter directly into the workforce, where their Merrimack education has positioned them to compete strongly in today’s job market. We are working with our NEW School of Education to provide a degree option with teacher certification available for Fall '10.
Why should I choose Merrimack?
Our mission in the Chemistry Department at Merrimack College is to provide a strong undergraduate education, including meaningful research experience, leading to the development of highly skilled and motivated young scientists. We deliver this through research-active faculty who take a personal interest in our students, as well as facilities equipped with modern instrumentation. Close faculty/student interaction is a fundamental component of our program.
We offer:
• A strong inquiry-based curriculum:
Our curriculum is designed to allow chemistry
majors to learn fundamental chemical concepts
and laboratory skills and to have ample
opportunity to engage in original research with
guidance from a faculty mentor.
• An Accessible and Personable Faculty.
Members of the chemistry department actively
foster a welcoming community where students
are able to develop in a nurturing environment,
which allow them to achieve their full potential.
Our faculty members maintain close relationships
with our students and each student's interests,
challenges, and unique academic situation are
always of paramount concern. Our outstanding
faculty has expertise in research, real-world
applications, publications and education across
the diverse areas of chemistry and biochemistry.
