School of Science & Engineering

Josephine Modica-Napolitano, Ph.D., Dean & Professor of Biology

"As our society becomes increasingly more complex and technological, an understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is becoming more important than ever in order to achieve success in school, career, and life."

The world of science and engineering has never been more important than it is now, in our time of abundant discovery, controversial experimentation, and the rapid-fire development of new technologies.

Merrimack College has risen to the challenge with excellent science and engineering programs, state-of-the-art facilities and technology, and a well-qualified faculty that is committed to providing students with an outstanding education. Our programs are further strengthened by the full integration of Merrimack's liberal arts tradition, enabling our students to emerge better equipped to engage with the world and succeed in any science or engineering field.

As a science and engineering student, you will have ready access to the realities of practice through our strong mentoring program, pairing eminent alumni with students to provide additional guidance and education. You will also engage with the working world through the experiential learning opportunities we offer, including a range of internships and co-ops. Many of these opportunities are linked with our commitment to service learning—from our volunteer community work in the Dominican Republic to the revitalization of downtown areas in Lawrence, MA.

Our goal is to integrate practical experience with interdisciplinary study and the acquisition of academic knowledge. This ensures that our graduates have every opportunity to become effective, compelling leaders in their fields—able to address change as it happens in technology and society.
