Jimmy Franco
Assistant Professor
Ph.D. Chemistry, University of California
B.S. Chemistry, Beloit College
Courses
- CHM3037 - Biochemistry
- CHM2210L - Organic Chemistry Laboratory
- CHM1220 - Chemistry for the Health Professionals
Research Interests
Dr. Franco conducted research in medicinal chemistry with Prof. Donald Ronning. The focus of this research was to identify potential drug candidates which could be used to combat tuberculosis. Dr. Franco’s work has resulted in 4 publications and a number of presentations at national meetings of the American Chemical Society.
At Merrimack, Dr. Franco’s teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of Biochemistry and Organic chemistry. His research interests will continue to be at the interface of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. The emphasis of his research will be on drug discovery, continuing his collaboration with colleagues at The University of Toledo.
