Corporate/Community Partners

The Chemistry Department is enjoying a relationship with CEM corporation (http://cem.com/).

Dr. Cynthia B. McGowan, along with a colleague at the University of Connecticut, has published a book utilizing Microwave chemistry in the Organic Chemistry laboratory.

Here is link to the book’s site on cem.com (http://cem.com/content17.html).

We are using two of their instruments in order to teach organic chemistry using innovative synthetic methods. Some of Dr. McGowan’s current research also utilizes these instruments to develop faster synthetic methods for some important types of organic reactions.
