Catapult Contest Information

Toss an egg, win a scholarship!

Innovative students who can build a catapult that can throw an egg into a frying pan up to 60 feet away might win $15,000 per year (max. four years) to study civil engineering at Merrimack College.

Entrants will aim to win the scholarship on March 26, 2011 at Thinkfest, a festival-style event that shows middle to early high school students the wonders of engineering, science, and technology through hands-on experiences.

High school juniors and seniors from across New England are encouraged to design and build a Trebuchet-style (www.trebuchet.com) catapult. Students will then bring their catapult to the Merrimack campus to be put to the test during the ThinkFest. The winner of the scholarship to study civil engineering at Merrimack will be announced that day.

Participants must be enrolled in 11th or 12th grade; be qualified for acceptance to Merrimack College; and maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA while at Merrimack to retain the yearly scholarship.
