"My Merrimack College experience significantly impacted not only my professional goals, but also my appreciation for the study of science. The combination of liberal arts and core sciences offer a well-rounded undergraduate education. I was always fascinated by the new and pertinent things that I learned everyday, such as in anatomy and microbiology. All of the required courses interconnected to reinforce the foundation of health science. The summer before my senior year was my most exciting time at Merrimack. First, I studied abroad in Spain, focusing on language and culture. When I returned, I participated in an academic internship at Children’s Hospital Boston in pediatric oncology. I was able to observe many of the scientific topics that I had learned about in practice. Both were valuable experiences that helped create a unique college education. After studying health sciences, I have decided to further pursue medicine as a Nurse Practitioner. I was accepted into the Simmons College Direct-Entry Nursing program, which will prepare me for both the RN and NP boards. I am confident that my accomplishments at Merrimack will advance my professional successes in the field of nursing".
