Meet the Dean
Dr. Allan T. Weatherwax
Dean of the School of Science and Engineering
Allan T. Weatherwax is the newly appointed Dean of Science and Engineering at Merrimack College. He comes to us from Siena College in Loudonville, New York where he was the Dean of the School of Science and a Professor of Physics. Dr. Weatherwax is an internationally recognized teaching-scholar who has spent two decades contributing to fundamental research in space plasma physics, geophysics, and space weather. He has conducted research in the polar-regions since the 1990s, and has served as principal investigator on numerous NSF and NASA grants totaling nearly $10 million. He serves as the co-director of the satellite mission Firefly that is exploring the mysteries of gamma rays produced by lightning discharges, and a related experiment called FireStation, that is currently on board the International Space Station. Dr. Weatherwax serves on numerous national and international committees including the Polar Research Board of the National Academy of Sciences. He is the author of more than 100 engineering and science papers, many with undergraduate student co-authors. The Weatherwax Glacier in Antarctica is also named in his honor to recognize his research efforts on that continent. Dr. Weatherwax received his Ph.D. in physics from Dartmouth College and holds a B.S. in mathematical physics.
Dr. Kyle McInnis
Associate Dean of Health Sciences
Dr. Kyle McInnis is a nationally recognized educator, researcher, and leader in the field of exercise science. His professional expertise involves the role of physical activity for improving health and preventing chronic diseases. He was appointed Associate Dean in 2015 and was instrumental in expanding health science programs at Merrimack.
