Ph.D. and M.A. Physics, Washington University in St. Louis; B.S. Physics, Gonzaga University

Associate Professor Craig W. Looney joined the Physics Department in the fall of 1998. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in physics from Washington University in St. Louis and a B.S. in physics from Gonzaga University. Dr. Looney’s early research involved the use of high pressure – thousands or even tens of thousands times atmospheric pressure – to investigate superconductors and novel magnetic materials. His more recent research interests include physics education and the interaction of science and religion. Dr. Looney enjoys playing basketball, ultimate frisbee (well, its been years since he played ultimate, but he enjoys the memory!), rough-housing with his kids, and building snow structures.
