Merrimack understands that each prospective student has a unique set of needs, there are several admission options from which to choose.
Advanced Placement Program
As a participant in the Advanced Placement Program of the College Board, Merrimack College will grant both credit and advanced placement to students who present entrance scores of at least three on Advanced Placement tests offered by the Educational Testing Service. Students who have taken the test should have their "official" scores sent directly from the Educational Testing Service (E.T.S.) in Princeton, New Jersey, to the Office of Admission at Merrimack College (Merrimack College code number: 3525).
Deferral of Admission
Merrimack offers the option for confirmed students to defer the offer of admission for up to one full year. The request for deferral must be submitted in writing to the Office of Admission. The confirmation deposit (freshman or transfer) is required in order to defer admission. If the student, who has confirmed as a Freshamn, elects to take college courses during this period, reapplication as a transfer candidate will be necessary. If you are in doubt about your future educational plans and have any questions concerning the above information, please contact the Director of Admission.
Early Action for Freshman Applicants
Merrimack offers both Early Action and Early Acceptance admissions programs. Early Action refers to students that are completing their senior year in high school and desire to have an admissions decision by mid-December. This is a non-binding program. Admissions deposits for Early Action Students applying for Fall 2008 admission are refundable by written request before May 1, 2008.
- EA Application Deadline November 15
- Admission Decision Mid-December
- FAFSA Deadline February 1
- Deposit Deadline May 1
Early action candidates not granted Early Action will still receive full consideration for the fall term. Notification to the candidate of the college's decision on admission will then be made mid-March.
Early Acceptance
Students may be considered for admission after completing their junior year if they have achieved a consistent and superior academic record. All early acceptance candidates must be recommended by their high school principal or director of guidance. General application procedures and deadlines are the same as for seniors. Students must meet the normal admission requirements (except for the number of academic courses).
