Why Merrimack?

Everyone has their own reasons for choosing a college, and the students at Merrimack College are no exception. They may choose Merrimack due to a deeply personal preference, or because of a specific program we offer. Maybe we just felt like the right place for them.

There is no right or wrong reason, but our students tell us that the following attributes of Merrimack College were important to them when they made their decisions:

• Our campus and location — a beautiful, suburban college setting that is easy to reach, convenient to Boston and all that the city offers, friendly at every level, and enriched by a genuine spirit of community.
• The strength of each of our three main academic divisions — Liberal Arts, Science and Engineering, and Business — and the range of innovative, top-quality programs offered within each.
• The variety of creative opportunities to engage with the world outside of the classroom as part of the learning process, from internships and co-ops to service learning, volunteer work, and involvement in any of our 40 different student clubs and organizations.
• Our small size, which offers a low student-faculty ratio and gives students more opportunities to develop connections, learn and practice leadership skills, and become truly engaged in the community, both on campus and beyond.
• The recent growth of our international programs and exciting new study abroad options, including summer programs, one-month placements, and semesters abroad in a variety of countries around the globe.
• Our tremendous sports programs, from well-organized intramurals to 16 varsity sports for men and women, all in Division II and the Northeast-10 Conference — except hockey, which competes in Division I Hockey East.
• Our remarkable faculty and alumni, who contribute a great deal to the academic process, and work closely with our career services staff to discover and develop an ever-increasing number of excellent career opportunities for our students.
