How do I apply to Merrimack?
Merrimack College uses the Common Application (www.commonapp.org) for all freshmen applicants. We also require applicants to complete a short supplement form, which is available on the Common Application website.
What are the deadlines to apply?
Freshman Early Decision: November 15
Freshman Early Action: November 15
Freshman Regular Admission: February 15
Freshman Financial Aid: February 15
Is there an application fee to apply to Merrimack?
There is no fee to apply to Merrimack.
What is the average gpa and test scores for incoming freshmen?
The average gpa is a 3.2; the average SAT test score is 1050; the average ACT score is 23.
How can I check if my file is missing any required documents?
Visit the online portal at www.merrimack.edu/myapplication. Refer to the email you received for your admissions id (this will be sent to you once you’ve applied).
Do I need to submit my SAT/ACT scores?
Merrimack College is test optional. Standardized test scores (such as the SAT or ACT) are not required for admission and there is no penalty for not submitting scores. However, if you feel that your test scores give a more complete picture of your academic achievements, you may submit them and they will be reviewed as part of your application.
I’d like to come for a tour. Do I need to call first?
Please schedule a visit through our online form. You can also call us at 978-837-5093. Merrimack 101 Sessions include an overview of the College, followed by an hour-long tour. Merrimack 101 Sessions and tours are held daily at 10:30am and 2:30pm and most Saturdays at 10:00am. Unable to come to campus? No problem! How do I apply for financial aid or merit scholarships?
In order to be considered for need-based aid, we ask that you complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by February 15. All accepted students will be evaluated for merit scholarships. Financial packages will be mailed home in late March.
When will financial aid packages be sent?
I received a merit award. Is this renewable?
Your merit scholarship is renewable on a yearly basis contingent upon maintaining good academic standing (2.0 GPA or above).

When will decisions be sent?
If you applied early decision or early action, decisions are mailed end of December. If you applied regular decision, decisions will be mailed mid-March.

When is my deposit due?
Early Decision: January 29
Early Action and Regular Decision: May 1
Are there any benefits to depositing early?
Students are assigned housing in order of when their deposits are made. The sooner a student deposits, the better chance they have of getting their first or second building choice for housing. Once a student deposits, they can register for June Orientation and fill out their roommate and residence hall form.
Can I defer my admission?
Merrimack offers the option for confirmed students to defer the offer of admission for up to one full year. The request for deferral must be submitted in writing to the Office of Admission. The confirmation deposit (freshman or transfer) is required in order to defer admission. If the student, who has confirmed as a Freshman, elects to take college courses during this period, reapplication as a transfer candidate will be necessary. If you are in doubt about your future educational plans and have any questions concerning the above information, please contact the Dean of Admission.
How do I securing a housing assignment for my freshman year?
A student who accepts the College’s offer of admission as a “resident student” must complete their Roommate and Hall Selection Form, choose a meal plan, and e-sign their Residency Agreement to secure a room assignment. New resident students will be able to complete their Roommate and Hall Selection Form online beginning May 1, 2013 and must be completed by June 28, 2013. Meal plan selection and e-signing of the Residency Agreement occurs online through myMack; students will receive directions on how to complete this during June orientation.

Do you accept Advanced Placement scores?
As a participant in the Advanced Placement Program of the College Board, Merrimack College will grant both credit and advanced placement to students who present entrance scores of at least three on Advanced Placement tests offered by the Educational Testing Service. Students who have taken the test should have their “official” scores sent directly from the Educational Testing Service (E.T.S.) in Princeton, New Jersey, to the Office of Admission at Merrimack College (Merrimack College code number: 3525).
Are freshmen allowed cars on campus? Do you have any form of transportation on and off the campus?
Freshmen are not allowed cars on campus. We have 2 zip cars on campus available for all students, and there is a commuter rail station about a mile away.
