Advisory Committees

Alumni Relations Advisory Committee (ARAC)

ARAC works closely with the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) on strategic planning and program development.  They research new initiatives, review current programs and events and provide support to OAR through volunteer opportunities. ARAC has been involved in the restructuring of the Alumni Association, vetted the new Constitution and defined the regional areas.  Currently they are working to identify where alumni live within each state.  This information will drive future regional programming.  They are also working on a Regional Chapter Handbook.

Regional Advisory Committee

This new committee will be the driving force behind regional development.  It’s purpose is to engage and connect alumni in their respective regions. They will advise and support regional chapters and work in concert with Chapter Leaders.  Each Chapter Leader will oversee the organization of programs and events in their regions such as social gatherings, reading groups, high-school and corporate recruitment, gatherings with visiting Merrimack staff or faculty, and annual giving campaigns.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee shall solicit Nominations for all elected positions coming open on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. This may be done through a variety of ways, including but not limited to soliciting nominations from the Association President, faculty and staff of the College, and members of the Association from the appropriate region. The Nominating Committee will submit a slate of officers and directors to the Executive Committee for approval for presentation to the full Association.

Recognition and Awards Sub-Committee

The Recognition and Awards Committee shall work with the Executive Committee and the Director of Alumni & Constituent Relations on establishing ways to recognize alumni – from all decades on their service to the College, the Association, and their community. They will plan an annual awards dinner for presentation of awards.

Development Committee

The Development Committee shall work with the Office of Institutional Advancement in support of their annual goals and class agents in support of their reunion goals.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee shall work with the Office of Alumni & Constituent Relations and the Public Relations Office on activities that help to connect alumni with each other, the Association, the College, and others in the community. These activities shall include, but are not limited to publishing the Alumni magazine and the electronic newsletter as well as supporting online communication opportunities.

Business Advisory Committee

This committee works to engage alumni in the life of the college as well as support and create opportunities for peer networking. Members develop goals that will foster engagement, enable alumni to network more effectively and outline how we can better serve and connect with the Girard School Alumni.

Alumni Resources Advisory Committee

This committee works to provide alumni and students a resource in their field of endeavor that fosters career growth opportunities.  The Committee is charges with developing programs to facilitate career development and provides resources and tools necessary to strengthen alumni and current Merrimack College students’ marketability by sharpening their networking skills and individual career goals.

Pressed for Success Committee

This committee meets weekly with one goal in mind—to find a job in this tough economic time. It is a group of alumni, parents and friends who are looking for work. The group also utilizes a LinkedIn site for networking.  Committee members share resources, network, and support each other in this difficult time, and recognize the need for networking and support.  Ages are as varied as career interests.  Members are interested in helping each other attain their goal by offering advice, sharing job leads and seeking out experts willing to offer their expertise.

Augustinian Mission Advisory Committee

This committee serves as an important group of alumni and friends who guarantee that the Augustinian mission of Merrimack College is alive and present in alumni programming.  This group assists in community service programming while also assisting the alumni office in general service opportunities throughout the year.  Currently, the committee is working on a proposal for an Augustinian Heritage and Legacy Center at Merrimack College.  The vision is that our faith was nourished and fed by the service of the Augustinians in the Merrimack Valley.  The faith and humble service of the Augustinians is the basis and foundation on which the history of the local parishes and Merrimack College is built.  We wish to remember, honor and celebrate the ministry of the Augustinian Friars in the Merrimack Valley as the roots, foundation and cornerstone of Merrimack College.

Young Alumni Advisory Committee

This committee serves as a sounding board and “go-to” group for young alumni ideas and events.  The mission of the Young Alumni Advisory Committee is to strengthen the young alumni community by offering events and programs that establish a mutually beneficial lifelong relationship with Merrimack College Alumni. The term “young alumni” encompasses all alumni of Merrimack who have graduated within the last ten years.  Currently, the committee is working on ideas for social and networking programs that will connect young alums back to Merrimack.
