The orientation leader staff is responsible for the welcoming and introduction of accepted students into the Merrimack College community. These positions are designed to assist new students in their transition to college, illustrate the educational opportunities, integrate new students into college life and prepare them for their first year at Merrimack College.
Orientation leaders (OLs) work throughout the Spring Semester training for June and Fall Orientation. These leaders spend two weeks on campus in June welcoming an assigned group of incoming students to campus as well as in August. This is a very hands on position and works one on one with students as well as in small groups.
Team Members attend trainings in the Spring Semester and prepare to assist with Fall Orientation. Team Members join the OLs in the Fall to assist with move in day and acclimate new students to campus over four days leading up to Academic Convocation. Team Members are paired with OLs to work with groups of 20-30 students over the four day period and make sure all students are feeling welcomed and having their questions answered.
International Orientation Leader*
Each year, International Student Support will select a group of mature and dedicated undergraduate and graduate leaders to assist with implementing orientation programs during the spring, summer, and fall. Orientation Leaders serve as guides for new students, who are making the transition from their previous environment to the diverse academic, intellectual and social culture of the College. IOLs are required to be upbeat, charismatic and punctual at all times! This is a January- September Commitment to the Office of International Student Support and communication will be required during summer break.
* You may only apply for one of the above positions for Orientation. These positions overlap with one another and do not allow an opportunity for students to serve in multiple roles.
