Please take your time to read the award descriptions and use the links provided to place your nominations. Student Leader individual LEAD award nominations are due on Saturday, March 30th, 2013. Student Organization nominations are due on Saturday, April 6th, 2013.

Outstanding Class Leader Awards
The Outstanding Class Leader Awards honor one student from each class year. This year we celebrate the classes of 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016. The award is presented to students who stand out among their peers as someone who exemplifies enthusiasm & pride in Merrimack College, through their attitude, behavior, and involvement. These students encourage Merrimack spirit & pride among their peers, maintain high standards of learning, are involved in a variety of facets of Campus Life and serve as role models to other students.
Unsung Hero Award
The Unsung Hero Award is given to a student leader on campus who is actively involved in student organizations and various offices on campus. This student is not necessarily an executive board member of any organization. They support campus events, and encourage others to support and participate in campus events and initiatives.
Student Leader of the Year Award
The Student Leader of the Year Award is the top award for a student leader to win. This award is presented to a student leader who has a strong relationship with their student organization(s), participates in their own leadership development, has held at least one leadership position on campus (executive board position, Orientation Leader, Resident Advisor, International Assistant, Peer Tutor, Athlete etc. ) and maintains strong academics.
Ultimate Warrior of the Year Award
The Ultimate Warrior of the Year is awarded to the Merrimack student or staff member who displays the ultimate dedication to Merrimack Athletics. He or she is the sixth man on the hardwood, the 12th man on the gridiron and does everything they can in support of the Warriors. Whether it’s at a volleyball match, a field hockey game or a lacrosse showdown. Whether it’s raining, snowing or freezing. You can always find the Ultimate Warrior of the Year in attendance, rooting on the Warriors.

Student Organization Achievement Award
The Student Organization Achievement Award is presented to the student organization that has shown remarkable improvement over the past year. Including, strong, quality programming; active participation by members; successful recruitment & retention of members; strong budget management.
Student Organization Service Award
The Student Organization Service Award is presented to the student organization that has demonstrated a significant contribution to philanthropy & or community service within the Merrimack College and surrounding communities. The service must have taken place during 2012-2013 academic year and at least 50% of the organization must have participated in the activity.
Blue & Gold Award
The Blue & Gold Award is presented to the student organization that sponsored an outstanding program or event which raised social & or cultural awareness among the Merrimack Community and generated not only awareness but also conversation on campus. Programs nominated should have initiated mutual respect and understanding of all people and be conscious of the difficulties and hardships of society.
Program of the Year
The Program of the Year Award is presented to the student run program that was successfully developed, promoted, and produced. This program should have a strong positive impact on Merrimack community.
SWAG Award
The SWAG recognizes those occurrences which add a little boost to Merrimack’s step. Last year the Orientation Flash Mob took the award. Who should it be this year?
Student Organization of the Year Award
The Student Organization of the Year Award is presented to the student organization that strives to improve in the areas of programming, recruitment, retention, administrative tasks and co-sponsorship with other organizations and offices on campus throughout the year. This organization sets the bar for all other student organizations.

2013 LEAD Awards Selected by a committee or office
Gladys & Anthony Sakowich Campus Center Award
The Glady & Anthony Sakowich Campus Center Award is presented to any student organization run program or event which occurred in the Sakowich Campus Center and was able to maximize resources within the building, successfully demonstrate collaboration with Campus Center Staff, and bring together the Merrimack College community. This award is selected by the Sakowich Campus Center staff.
St. Augustine, William J. Murray, O.S.A. Medal, Joseph Daley, Travis Kong (Determined by other committee)
Intramural Team Sportsmanship Award
Intramural Team Sportsmanship Award is presented to a team that consistently exemplified team sportsmanship toward each other and their opponents and never forfeited a game.
Intramural Participant of the Year
The intramural Participant of the Year award is given to an intramural participant who has played at least one sport during all four quarters of the intramural season, has been captain of at least one team during the year, and who plays their given sport with a high respect for the officials and their competitors.
Presentation of the Intramural Cup
The intramural Cup was developed to encourage teams and individuals to participate in a variety of intramural programs throughout the academic year. Teams that maintain the same name throughout the year will accumulate points based on involvement and how they finish in each sport. At the conclusion of each school year, custom made hooded sweatshirts will be given to the team that accumulates the highest point total. The winning team will also have their team name engraved into the Merrimack College Intramural Cup for that year.

Male and Female Athlete of the Year
The athlete of the year awards are given to student athletes who have shown exceptional athletic ability, that are a team player and a hard worker, that show sportsmanship and coachability, are recognized by the conference or region, were a part of a team that reached NE-10/HEA Tournament or posted winning season if no tournament aside from cross country, track, golf and crew, has a 2.5 GPA or higher and is in good standing with Merrimack, residence life and the town of North Andover.
Male and Female Scholar Athlete of the Year
The scholar athlete of the year awards are given to student athletes with at least 3 years of intercollegiate participation at Merrimack, are in their junior or senior year, and played in at least 50% of their games.
Male and Female Rookie of the Year
The rookie of the year awards are presented to student athletes who are in their first year of college eligibility, have exceptional athletic ability, are a team player and hard worker, show sportsmanship, coachability, achieve recognition by the conference or region, have a GPA of 2.5 or greater and are in good standing with Merrimack College, Residence Life, and the town of North Andover.
Community Service Award
The Athletics Community Service Award is given to one team or individual that demonstrated the core ideals of the Augustinian tradition in their endeavors beyond the playing field, the most.
Club Sports Team of the Year:
The Club Sports Team of the Year is awarded annually to the Merrimack club that has not only achieved success on the playing field but also exhibited a commitment to student-driven leadership through community involvement, successfully working with members of the Merrimack community and positively representing Merrimack College as a whole.
