Jessica Rich is an organizational communication scholar with research interests in power/resistance in the workplace, ecocultural studies and just transitions to green economies.

Before joining the Department of Communication and Media at Merrimack College, Dr. Rich was a postdoctoral research associate with the Cooperative Institute for Environmental Science at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She currently serves as a faculty affiliate with CU’s Center for Science & Technology Policy Research. Dr. Rich also brings a decade of professional experience in non-profit organizing and coordinating across a diversity of program areas, including workforce training, behavior health, and immigrant advocacy.
Rich’s research examines how workers, communities, and nature respond to and participate in environmental conflict. Specifically, she studies conflicts over oil and gas drilling in the United States to examine professional identity and stigma in fossil fuel industries, human-nature interactions, and environmental decision making processes.
