Dr. Ferrara earned her Ph.D. in exercise physiology from The Ohio State University. She received her M.S. in physiology from Pennsylvania State University and her B.S. in physical therapy from Boston University. Dr. Ferrara comes to Merrimack College from the University of Massachusetts Lowell where she was an associate professor of physical therapy and also served as director of the exercise physiology program. Her expertise is in the area of exercise science, specifically the physiological basis of exercise, adaptations to exercise training, and promotion of physical activity. Her research has focused on the evaluation of cardiovascular risk factors, and interventions that might reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
