Dr. Kuszmaul earned his Ph.D. in engineering-civil engineering from the University of California at Berkley, his M.S. in geo-engineering from the University of Minnesota, and his B.S. in geological engineering from Michigan Technological University. Dr. Kuszmaul comes to Merrimack College from the University of Mississippi, where he served as associate dean for academic and student affairs at the School of Engineering, and associate professor of geology and geological engineering.

His research has focused on probabilistic methods in geomechanics and he has had long- term research associations with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineering involving levee and dam stability analysis.
