The Access Services Department, located on the main floor of the McQuade Library, is responsible for maintaining the order of the general book collection and special collections located on the second and third floors of the library. The department’s student employees and staff are trained in assisting patrons with book location, renewals, recalls, overdues, interlibrary loan requests, course reserves, maintaining patron records, and basic informational questions. The Library has a number of rooms that may be reserved for classes, events, workshops or other activities. For information pertaining to general building use, contact the Operations Manager. Other campus departments that are housed within the library have their own policies related to their services. One should contact those departments for specific information. The Library is open to the public with directional information located in the front lobby area. Operating hours vary depending upon semester, holiday and summer schedules. The main number 978.837.5215 is updated with current operating schedules.

The Information Resources Management department oversees acquisitions, cataloging, serials, and electronic database management. The department collaborates with liaison librarians to develop a collection that supports the ongoing needs of our academic program and to increase awareness and use of library information resources that support the curriculum.

Instruction & Outreach x4210
The Instruction and Outreach department offers information literacy instruction and research assistance. Through the liaison program, librarians work with faculty and assist in collection development. Librarians are available to help in person, by phone, by email, or by IM. One-on-one Research Advisory consultations are available by appointment if you need in-depth assistance. Librarians offer class tours, demonstrations, and hands-on instruction in the use of library materials, and can help find information on a topic, develop search strategies for research papers or projects, search online catalogs, electronic databases, and the Web.
