Residence Life

The best way to get a full Merrimack College experience is to live right here on campus. Living together as a community is part of what generates the closeness and camaraderie that are hallmarks of the Merrimack tradition.A primarily residential college, we house students in a variety of living arrangements, from residence halls for first-year students to apartments for seniors. No matter where you live, your Resident Advisor (RA) can help you make adjustments and enjoy life on campus.

As a campus resident, you will have more opportunities to engage with other students, connect with the faculty and administration, and get involved in Merrimack’s many activities. You will form lifelong friendships—and acquire certain life skills, such as how to get along despite differences, how to hear and respect the opinions of others, and how to give and receive support.

Research has also shown that on-campus students achieve higher grades and greater satisfaction during their college experience, compared with commuter students. They develop greater leadership skills, better study skills, and a stronger sense of self-reliance.

The Residence Life Office is dedicated to providing a living/learning environment that promotes personal growth and encourages students to develop their whole selves. We believe that as active, respectful members of a college community, our residential students will become more engaged and productive as citizens after they leave.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a student-centered learning environment in which students are actively engaged in their educational experience.  We endeavor to assist students in creating a home away from home while supporting them in gathering a deeper understanding of different ways of thinking, leadership, mutual respect, friendships, personal responsibility, and accountability for one's actions.  This is accomplished within a framework that supports the institution's Statement of Community Standards and Augustinian tradition and promotes personal growth for every student.
