Heroes and Worship
On October 15 Interfaith leaders from around the country are gathering on the campus of Merrimack College to honor Rabbi Burton Visotzky, 2012 winner of the Goldziher Prize.
Students will have the opportunity to share a meal with these “heroes” who have dedicated their professional and personal lives to peace among religions. Each leader will host a table, and students will be able to choose a “hero” with whom to sit and dialogue.
Some of the “heroes” include:
- Rabbi Burton Visotzky of the Jewish Theological Seminary, Goldziher Winner
- Mr. Jacob Bender, independent documentary filmmaker and Goldziher Finalist
- Cardinal Seán O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston
- Rev. Dr. Diane Kessler, Massachusetts Council of Churches, President Emerita
- Dr. Mohamed Lazzouni, Imam and interfaith leader in New England
- Dr. Jennifer Peace, Center for Interreligious and Communal Leadership Education
- Prof. Huda Abu Arquob, Co-Executive Director of Abraham’s Vision
The “Heroes and Worship” dinner will take place at 5:15 pm, before the 7:00 pm Goldziher Award Dinner.
