Kadar Qian, Piano Soloist

As the winner of numerous young artist competitions, 15-year-old Kadar Qian has performed with the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, Metrowest Symphony Orchestra, Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra, Quincy Symphony Orchestra, and the Rivers Symphony Orchestra. Qian claimed the first prize in the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, receiving additional special prizes for the Best Bach Performance and Best Chopin Performance. He was also the first prize winner of the Steinway Society of Massachusetts piano competition.

Kadar studies piano with A. Ramon Rivera at The Rivers School Conservatory and also studies conducting with Yoichi Udagawa. Qian has given more than 100 performances in the US and China, including 10 solo appearances with orchestras. He made his Boston Pops debut at the age of 15. Kadar performed on the NPR radio show, From the Top in 2010, and he also appeared on WHDH TV in 2011 as well as WGBH radio in 2012. He made his conducting debut in 2012 at age 14. Kadar is a high honor roll student at Westford Academy.
