Last Lecture: Dr. Marcia Walsh

November 20 7:30pm
Cascia Hall
The Merrimack Honors Program is sponsoring “The Last Lecture” by the winner of the 2013 Edward G. Roddy, Jr. Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award, Dr. Marcia Walsh.

The Last Lecture is delivered as if it were the very last opportunity a professor has to speak before students and colleagues on any subject.  The effect of this fiction is a presentation in which the lecturer shares what is of the greatest importance and value in her/his professional life.  It also reveals passion about the commitment to her/his vocation as an educator.

Dr. Walsh obtained her BS in Biology from Stonehill College.  She advanced her studies by attending University of Rhode Island where she attained her Ph.D. in Biological Science.  Her primary research was pertained to the molecular biology of virus infected bacteria.  She attended Dana Farber Cancer Institute for her post-doctoral fellowship in cancer Biology where she did research on mitochondria in normal and cancer cells.  Dr. Walsh has been with Merrimack College since 1980.  She is also an avid swimmer.
