Andover Choral Society presents “Simple Gifts”
Let the Andover Choral Society bring you back to a simpler time, in a program featuring beloved nineteenth-century American folk songs and folk hymns. Enjoy the iconic sound of Aaron Copland’s “Old American Songs,” movements from Randall Thompson’s “Frostiana”, arrangements by Mormon Tabernacle Choir director, Mack Wilberg, and Rutter’s uplifting “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
Renowned baritone soloist, Andrew Garland, will join the chorus in the Copland works and will perform a selection of early American folk songs featured on Mr. Garland’s CD, “On the Other Shore.” Critics have described Andrew Garland’s voice as “…virile, luxuriantly warm and beautiful” and his performances as “expressive…with the occasional streak of theatricality.” The chorus will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra and conducted by Music Director, Michael Driscoll.
Order tickets on line at andoverchoralsociety.org/concerts or call 978-682-4050. The concert hall is handicapped accessible and the concert is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
