As the winner of numerous young artist competitions, 16 year old Kadar Qian has performed with the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, Quincy Symphony Orchestra, and the Rivers Symphony Orchestra.
Qian claimed the first price in the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, receiving additional special prizes for the Best Bach Performance and Best Chopin Performance. He was also the first-prize winner of the Steinway Society of Massachusetts piano competition. Kadar studies piano with A. Ramon Rivera at The Rivers School of Conservatory and also studies conducting with Yoichi Udagawa. Qian has given more than 100 performances in the United States and China, including ten solo appearances with orchestras. He made his Boston Pops debut at the age of 15, and his conducting debut at 14. Kadar is a high honor roll student at Westford Academy.
