Directed by Preston Sturges, Not Rated, 94 minutes, 1941

This classic romantic comedy features an underlying satire of the nouveau riche who emerged towards the end of the Great Depression. A plot full of screwball twists, con-artistry and sexual tension eventually brings Charles Pike, played by Henry Fonda, heir to the Pike Ale fortune, together with a woman impersonating an English aristocrat, played Barbara Stanwyck, who while trying to illicitly get her hands on a portion of his fortune, finds true love instead.
