Feb. 14: Jean Valentine & Jane Mead

Jean Valentine reads from her latest collection, Shirt in Heaven, with Jane Mead, whose new book is World of Made and Unmade. 4 pm.

Jean Valentine is the author of thirteen books of poetry, including her most recent, Shirt in Heaven. She has also, with Ilya Kaminsky, published a translation of Marina Tsvetaeva’s poetry, Dark Elderberry Branch, in 2012. Her first book won The Yale Series of Younger Poets award, and since then her work has been awarded the National Book Award and other prizes.

Jane Mead is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently Money Money Money Water Water Water (2014). She is the recipient of awards and fellowships from the Lannan, Whiting, and Guggenheim foundations. She has taught at Colby College, Washington University, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and was for many years poet-in-residence at Wake Forest University. Mead is currently on the faculty of the Drew University Low-Residency MFA program.
