Students Share Advice about Internships

January 07, 2016
Senior Cam Ferry and junior Alex Gorgoni presented to students in two of Professor Paul Antonellis’ Intro to Business classes, offering advice on internships.

Although they are still students, senior Cam Ferry and junior Alex Gorgoni have a considerable amount of work experience in the financial industry – with four jobs and more than two years of experience between them. Both students have participated in two internships during their time at Merrimack. They recently spoke to students in two Intro to Business courses, advising fellow students to take advantage of internship opportunities.

Ferry advised students of the importance of networking “…and the benefits of gaining real world experience as an undergrad. I learned about being versatile and having the ability to adapt to change. These are essential skills I will take with me throughout my career.”

Ferry has interned at two private equity firms, Brook Venture Partners, and most recently at SFA Ventures.

“The value in doing more than one internship was the opportunity to see what I did or didn’t like in regards to a professional culture, industry, and business as a whole. Multiple internships also made my resume very strong and allowed me to network and pursue jobs that students from Ivy League/target schools typically attain,” said Gorgoni.

Gorgoni has held internships in private equity at Great Point Investors and at Philpott Ball & Werner, an investment bank specializing in the aerospace and defense industry. He will be working this summer as an analyst in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs.
