Civil Engineer Leyna Tobey wins SGH scholarship

Rising senior civil engineering student Leyna Tobey wins prestigious 2016 SGH Scholarship

Leyna Tobey will receive the SGH Scholarship in the amount of $7,500 at the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Student Award Night at Tufts University in April. 

Leyna, a rising senior and President of the ASCE student chapter, applied for the prestigious scholarship which is offered by the structural design firm Simpson Gumpertz and Heger (SGH) in collaboration with BSCES.   

The Principals of SGH established the Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Scholarship with the BSCES to encourage undergraduate college students who strive for excellence and who aspire to a career in civil engineering.  

A member of the Merrimack Steel Bridge Team, founder of the new club Bridges to Prosperity, and an active member of the Merrimack community, Leyna met all the personal, academic and professional qualities embodied in the award.
