Student Success Stories: Brittany Brown & Chelsea Comfort
By The O’Brien Center for Student Success
Brittany Brown, a 2015 Civil Engineering student is actively engaged on campus as an orientation leader, secretary of the American Society of Civil Engineering, and member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. “The most important advice I would offer students is to get involved on campus. Getting involved allowed me to come out of my shell, and I have made some awesome friends who will last a lifetime” Brittany exclaims. Brittany is also busy working in her Co-Op position at Fay, Spofford and Thorndike in preparation to support her father’s engineering business, Bayside Engineering, after graduation. In striving to achieve her goal, Brittany takes advantage of the services offered by the O’Brien Center for Student Success. “They have helped me out a ton. I found my Co-Op on their job search website, ADVANTAGE. They also gave me the best advice just before my interview, which was to relax and be myself,” Brittany describes.
Chelsea Comfort, a junior studying Environmental Studies and Sustainability is also actively involved on campus as a Resident Assistant in the Townhouses, a student in the Honors Program, and an Interfaith Leader. Chelsea recently served as a sustainability coordinator in her internship position with Sodexo, helping adopt more sustainable and environmentally practices for the Merrimack community. “For me, this position was a perfect match because I found an internship related to something that I naturally strive to learn more about” Chelsea describes. Long term, Chelsea wants to open her own health and wellness sanctuary, and as a result is determined to write her own success story. She continues to take advantage of the opportunities at Merrimack, which include: attending career fairs, using the services offered by the O’Brien Center for Student Success, and giving back to the community!
The O’Brien Center will be hosting a Science and Engineering Career Night on October 30 from 6:00-8:00PM in Murray Lounge. Those interested in employment in science, engineering, and information technology are encouraged to attend.
