The Merrimack College Math Team recently ran the Sixth Annual E+(MC)^2, Excitement - Merrimack College Math Contest.  Eight four-person teams competed in the one-hour event to solve a set of ten math problems that had been created by the members of the math team.  Four teams competed in the college division and four in the high school division.  In both divisions, the exciting contest ended in a tie, with the winner being the first team to solve the tiebreaker question.  

The winning team in the college division, “Irrational Divisors,” are (from left to right, Dr. Laura Hall-Seelig, assistant professor of mathematics; Leah Palazola ‘13, majoring in mathematics and minoring in business administration; Amanda DeMarco ‘13, double majoring in mathematics and business administration  with a concentration in finance; and Sarah Rieder ‘13, double majoring in mathematics and education with a minor in business administration.

A team of four alumni who had competed int he contest during their undergraduate days finished in third place.
In the high school division, four Merrimack alumni who are high school teachers brought teams of students from Littleton High School, Haverhill High School, and two teams from Andover High School.  The team from Littleton High School, led by Math teacher Kelly Ogden ‘00 won the high school division edging out the team from Andover High School led by Jessica Ead ‘11.  The other high school teams were Haverhill High School, led by Timmy Smith ‘11, and Andover High School, led by Kelci Adams ‘12.
