Sharon Shore Taitelbaum, M.A.

Professor of Practice

Education

M.Ed., Reading, Salem State University
B.A., Mathematics, Wayne State University

Profile

Sharon taught high school and adult high school completion mathematics in public rural, urban and suburban environments in Maine and Michigan before coming to Massachusetts. Recently, as the STEM Director for a K-8 school, she worked with classroom teachers to help them approach their teaching of math more conceptually and to integrate technology and engineering design appropriately. Additionally, she taught high school level courses to advanced middle school students using a discovery format. She also coached the math team. For the past two years as an adjunct at Merrimack, Sharon has enjoyed teaching students in Foundations of Mathematics I and Teaching Mathematics and Technology.

Sharon is especially interested in making mathematics authentic, relevant and accessible to all students regardless of their previous experiences. Her other interests include classroom discourse and teaching through problem solving.
