Masters in Accounting (MSA)
Why did you choose to pursue a Masters degree at Merrimack?
I chose to complete my MSA at Merrimack because I had already developed a great relationship with the faculty and staff as an undergrad. Plus, I was able to start classes in the spring semester of my senior year through the Grad Advantage program which gave me insight into the challenging nature of the graduate level accounting courses. The one year MSA program helped me get the required credits needed to help me prepare for and eventually obtain my CPA license.
What was the highlight of the Masters program?
The highlight of the MSA program was working as a graduate assistant in the Girard School of Business. As a graduate assistant I was a freshman academic advisor as well as the lead tutor for accounting and finance students. It was rewarding to be able to share my knowledge and experience with freshmen who were just beginning the transition to college.
How would you describe your academic experience at Merrimack?
All of my classes were small which allowed me to strengthen my relationships with the professors and fellow students. I gained valuable knowledge and skills that I am going to be able to use in the workforce. Taking courses in the evening, combined with studying for the CPA, really allowed me to better manage my time.
What do you value most about a Merrimack graduate education?
Merrimack’s MSA program has excellent professors with real-world experience, and I wanted to learn as much as I could from them to help me out as I begin my accounting career.
