Associate Professor, Chemistry and Biochemistry
As an environmental analytical chemist, I measure chemicals in the environment. Many of those chemicals are natural and belong there, while others do not. Knowing how much of these chemicals are present in different environments, along with how they change over time, can be an important tool in understanding many processes that occur. My work is interdisciplinary in nature because I am often measuring a certain chemical for another scientist as part of their project. Another aspect of my scholarship is determining new and/or better ways to measure compounds of interest using different instruments.
